FAQs

  • Individuals, family members or professionals can make a referral to Solace & Thrive. You are welcome to email at hello@solacethrive.com.au with an enquiry or to make an appointment.

Solace & Thrive receive referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians and other health professionals. In addition, individuals are always welcome to call to arrange an appointment without a referral.

  • Your enquiry or referral will be responded to by a member of our friendly reception team. We will guide you through the referral process. This will include intake via telephone to ensure we are aware of your specific needs and also to answer any queries you might have or make recommendations that prioritise your health. You will be asked to complete an online registration form and we may require a referral if this has not already been completed.

  • Your first appointment at Solace & Thrive will be an assessment session, where your psychologist will spend time getting to know you, understand your concerns and learn about your needs. For infants and children, the first two appointments held are assessment sessions. Together we will explore confidentiality, how sessions will proceed and your goals for attending therapy. You can expect to receive a professional, respectful and confidential service in a comfortable setting.

  • Because the therapeutic process is different for every individual, the number of sessions you need will depend upon your own unique circumstances. Some people see changes in a small number of sessions, while others may take longer. The length of individual therapy depends on your needs, resources, motivation and goals for therapy.

  • Solace & Thrive is a private billing clinic. We pride ourselves on providing you with excellent, collaborative and personalised care. The Australian Psychological Society 2022-2023 Recommended Schedule of fees has set the standard 46 to 60 minute consultation fee at $280. Providing an affordable service is important to us, so our fees are set below this recommendation.

Full payment of the account is required on the day of the appointment and a receipt will be provided to assist you with claiming your rebate.

  • A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a plan your GP writes with you about treating a mental health condition. It helps you access eligible health care professions, such as Psychologists, who can help you with your mental health concerns. You do not need to have an existing diagnosis to access a MHCP.

Prior to your appointment at Solace & Thrive, please provide a copy of your referral letter and your MHCP from your medical practitioner, if you wish to claim Medicare rebates for your psychology sessions.

  • You do not need a referral to book an appointment. If you have private health insurance, you may be entitled to a rebate through your provider. If you choose not to use Medicare or a private health fund, you can see a psychologist at Solace & Thrive without a referral.

  • Most private health funds will provide some cover for psychological services. However, the level of cover varies significantly and is also dependent on your particular policy. It is best to check this with your private health fund directly.

  • When booking an appointment with Solace & Thrive, we set that time aside just for you. We require sufficient notice for cancellations, in order for us to reallocate your appointment time and enable another person to receive care.

Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance will not incur any fee. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible.

All cancellations made with less than 48 business hours’ notice given or non-attendance of a booked appointment will incur a fee equal to 50% of the consultation cost. Please be mindful of this when scheduling and confirming your appointments.

Thank you for your understanding that our cancellation policy is in place to maximise accessibility to Solace & Thrive care.

  • We do not specialise in providing court reports or attending court, and we are not able to provide services if there are current family court processes or orders including intervention orders. We recommend choosing a psychologist with expertise in this area. Please click here to access those services. (Link to https://psychology.org.au/find-a-psychologist).

  • Please note that we require both parents/legal guardians to consent to psychology treatment for your child.
